MH- OW Emerald from 1 ticket: LHR-SYD RT $5186

Price isn't cheap, but it's not bad considering city paring, getting OW Emerald from no status, and 100k+ redeemable miles (plus lie flat on all segments, and A350 on London segments)

100k is due to Malaysia's triple mile bonus if you book by Oct 15, 2018 and complete before March 31, 2019.

Edit: Seems like cheaper flights can be found SYD-LHR in Feb, around $4100.

Sample flight:
Edit: Even better fare if you are able to position to Tokyo:

What about that one way DEL-JFK MH fare? Wouldn't two of those achieve the same thing?

No. Has to be on MH metal. The DEL-JFK fare requires travel on JL metal for the TPAC segment.

@Dave510 where did you find the fare ex SYD? Can't seem to replicate $4100
If anyone is after the status, 4 RT flights KUL-ICN will also net you platinum at a cost of $3169 roughly.

Looks like MH is in desperate need of cash.

there's also this fare for anyone looking to depart from India. MH: DEL-Australia r/t in J from ~US$1,350

Yeah also wondering... Indeed MH has been making losses so far. If you can't run a profit in this market at this moment, it seems you do not have the right to be in business.. unfortunately.

Can also try from Perth and save a few hundred, but it won't get you all of the way. Possibly can find options from Perth that route through Sydney on QF and then from Sydney up on MH. But the question remains: is it worth a not-so-great experience to earn miles and status on a lackluster program?

I wouldn't expect this to last much longer after the blogs blast it out to everyone.

I believe a lot of people who take advantage of this are looking to secure OW Emerald status, particularly for AA flagship and first class lounge access on domestic AA tickets

If qualifying early in 2019, it's basically 2 years of Emerald status, and the points earned could be used for a partner flight (like Cathay) in F or J. The service seems hit or miss but it's really no worse than North American airlines. NRT and LHR are both easy to access and desirable places to visit, so I think it's a worthwhile run for some people without OW status.

Can also fly ICN-KUL-LHR roundtrip somewhat cheaper. Will bring you short 1k miles of Emerald, but on fully flexible ticket with zero cancellation cost
