I've been on the A321 neo for 4 legs between CGK and CMB and for 2 between CMB and AUH. The seat was fine and the flights were only ca 4hr. Once the brilliant service is over, there's not much time to get some good sleep. There were also 2 legs in the idiosyncratic A330-200 seat between CMB and DXB, but these weren't significantly better because of the short flight time.

I've never been able to do anything to do with payments outside a Grab-covered area. But in-zone it's been a fast, efficient process.
I'm blessed with Indo coverage and have no idea how well CGK's WiFi works, or how simple it is to access. Grab itself can get overwhelmed at the airport, and there can be waits. But a regular taxi isn't going to break the bank, though probably best to avoid more pricey limo services.
Train into the city followed by a walk or a taxi is a fast, cheap, virtuous and interesting option.

70k RP one way on the train as well which is so cheap.
For those who are having issues with Grab, try Go-jek if you have an cheap indonesian SIM from the airport.

I read somewhere that the 330’s are flat beds... alway a bonus. I have just read the news articulate again as south
london Phil says to do with China 🇨🇳 ( sorry ) however I do struggle to sleep 💤 Unless I’m flat.
Thisis my first tier run so it’s going to be fun no matter what plane.

The A333s are great though.

The only caveat for first time users is, I suppose, the clunky bit of finding and using the skytrain to the airport station: but once mastered, it's plain sailing.
It's a pity the through service to Bekasi didn't work out - it was a great way to get directly to Bandung

Both Sudirman and Manggarai are joys to use as Jakarta stations. It seems odd the service doesn't attract more users: I guess it's difficult to wean Jakartans out cars. Ticket price might have something to do with it - 70K is fine for singletons but might discourage couples and families.

Manggarai is still a bit of a building site at the moment though, particularly if you’re transferring to/from the commuter lines for elsewhere.
If you pre-book online at www.railink.co.id the price of a single drops to 50k for a specific train, 100k for a ‘flexi’ - I did this for my return to CGK on the first part of my double-hop since the Doubletree is conveniently opposite Cikini station, one stop on the commuter rail from Manggarai - if you can deal with the faff of getting the ticket link by email or text (and have access to a printer), though there is also an App, the precise mechanics of which I did not investigate.

For the purposes of disambiguation, Sudirman Baru (the new station) is being rebranded as BNI City. The older Sudirman commuter station isn’t served by the airport train, so don’t make the mistake of having your taxi drop you there!

Perfectly correct, thanks for that. Though I think Sudirman Baru (New Sudirman) will be known as such for a generation: indeed the Railink App uses that name, and the SDB code. As I remember, Grab fudges it as BNI City Sudirman Baru. I guess corporate adhesions take time to replace well-known names.
Manggarai is an odd one. There's a calm, spanking new and efficient terminal for airport trains across the (many) tracks and quite separate from the bonkers main station. It's accessed by a very unprepossessing local road. For some time many drivers were simply unaware of the Airlink station and had to be guided to it. Grab now identifies it clearly under the Stasiun Manggarai heading: I guess corporate branding is some way off.
And you are right again, the app can be a bit of a mare to master. Easier to rock up and buy with a card from the machine: keep things simple.

hi guys
I'm new to this thread
I'm wondering if back to back is possible on this route at AUH
say landing 2200 and take the same plane back to CMB on 2300?

Couple of questions for anyone more in the know than me:
1. Are the non-refundable non-cancelable tickets still eligible for changes because of Coronavirus? Just trying to plan in case the policy from Sri Lankan gets extended to May or the situation in Indonesia worsens.
2. The credit card I booked the trip with was cancelled (was a Lloyds Amex) and I no longer can present it at boarding time. Has anyone run into this problem or have suggestions on alternatives I could try? Would rather not be denied boarding in AUH!

I’ve just come back of my first ever tier point run with the thanks of some I face lots of advice in this thread, it was not half as scary as I had expecting, maybe due to the corona virus but there were no queues for start to finish, well getting out from the train at C Gates at LHR. Train to baggage reclaim would have been the worst part of the trip a whole extra 5 minutes.
My only addition is after you use the golf buggy ( great tip ) by the way it’s a very long walk about 1km, you now have to fill in an additional yellow health form and have your temperature checked before you are allowed any further to immigration,.
Oh and I sat in seat 1A from auh to cgk return but on the return I had plane A21N 4R-ANE and the IFE is faulty red pixels all over the place, lucky for me no passengers next to me so could switch seats, this was then the same plane doing the CMB to AUH leg and I also notice that we had additional quests, in random names here Craig the cockroach, he was having a great time running about. All of a sudden I have become full up.
anyhow off to Tirana on Friday from Gatwick , I think it’s the penultimate flight for a while.
happy flying and keep safe guys and girls 😀😀😀

And as for Craig, could he be a relation of Charlie? Or even Charlie himself on his holidays? https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/31248164-post324.html

Thanks for the feedback - and I'd agree about the buggy, it does add a hint of a DYKWIA flavour as well!

I’ve just kicked my UL flights into late June. YMMV. UL are a nightmare on occasions to-get hold of to change bookings regardless of their current policy see: https://www.srilankan.com/en_uk/copo...ews-detail/505
