Hello FT😃
This is my first ever post here so bound to be wrong, sorry about that, however you have to give it to me for trying.
Im as my name suggests winging it with one world, I had a funny 5 minutes back in June last year when booked my first ever first class ticket for my mum and I, it felt good so I did some more research and I now find myself tying here in FT.
I have some how managed silver status and with this tier point run with the rest of my flights booked will achieve gold this year. Hopefully reading all that has been written here I have got it right with sales and ticketed fares. I do rabbit on so forgive me, I think the whole purpose of this post was to have it added to the wiki. So please if possible and I’ve done it right as requested.

Anyhow from what I have seen and read it will be a challenge in its own right, one I’m looking forward to achieving. Who knows I may meet others that are also winging it 😇😇😇

Hello and welcome to FT and in particular the Premium Fare deals and this thread.
You don't need to worry, you're in the right place, and all of us have made a first post at one time.
As one needs 90 days of membership and 90 posts under the belt to edit the Wiki, I've fixed that for you.
Cred to you for also mentioning hotels, as that also is a source of meeting others taking 'a challenge' or just flying too much anyhow

See you in a plane/lounge!

You reminded me in December that I only had 3 hrs left to book because of the time difference, sadly I didn't get the flights booked in time, which is on me. Having waited 44 days or whatever it was, like you I was hoping for a similar size discount to last time as for 2 of us for 2 runs that's an extra £350-£400. I did, at the time, take advantage of the WT+ positioning flights in the BA sale, so I now feel like I'm playing a game of chicken. If I don't book something before Sept we'll have 9 days in AUH! Fingers crossed for better next time.
As I already have 2 trips in both April and October, I have concluded that this sale is not for me. For you being two, and already made reservations for positioning, I certainly don't envy yo right now. But, and a very large but, there's more than half a year until September.

As I said in the post you qoute above, I'll be waiting for a 'real' sale (-40%) within weeks/couple of months.
If I'm wrong, you might need to be looking for a sale of sunscreen with high SPF to endure 9 days in DXB

First many thanks to everyone for all the practical information posted above. I have just booked a number of returns to CGK for early March using Amex and should be grateful if anyone could clarify the information requirements for the email ([email protected]) credit card check. I can send in a copy of my Amex statement but not an official bank statement showing my payment to Srilankan Airlines: presumably the Amex statement would work?
Will go to 2500 TP+ this year and just short of 35000 for LTG.
HBO/Print paper boarding passes where needed in CGK/CMB lounges.
Being a first time poster I cannot add my flight details to the Wikki. If someone could add these details I should be very grateful.

Most UK flights seat 2A.
Jakarta hotels not yet determined but most likely one of the airport hotels FM7/Orchardz Bandara.
May travel from INV but price difference only £150 and would need flight up to INV plus overnight hotel. Probably already have enough fun on this trip without adding additional complications
Need day room in Dubai - will check if this is offered by Premier Inn as it seems this hotel is linked to the terminal.

Regarding hotels near CGK Accor is currently having a 40% off sale and the new Swissotel Jakarta PIK Avenue is included that was recommended somewhere upthread. Fairly decent prices (~60€+taxes) so booked two separate one night stays there myself.

Yes, you were right-- thanks for that! I ended up waiting to book till I see how the China/Asia corona virus story plays out. My flights aren't till mid July so not a rush! Also seeing some people are waiting for a bigger discount, that seems like a good plan for my situation.

Perhaps the V-day sale didn’t generate very many bookings - new sale on from AUH.
“Save 25% off on Business Class from Abu Dhabi.
Book on – 19th February – 06th March 2020 Travel to commence between – 19th February – 06th March 2020
(blackout date - 3rd March)
Valid from Abu Dhabi to Colombo, Chennai, Tiruchchirapalli, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Madurai, Coimbatore, Dhaka, Hyderabad and Jakarta”
Hoping this 25% off isn’t the new norm.

The only thing is with this sale on we are unlikely to get the leap year sale that someone further up the thread was hoping for, so I'm still waiting and hoping!
