Finnair J: YYZ-PEK ~$2500 ai

Finnair is offering some excellent fares to China via the Atlantic Ocean racking up a lot of miles in J. The first segment usually is on BA to London then to HEL then onto PEK with their new business class. Quite a good deal for the amount of miles you’d rack up.

An oldie but a goodie!

This fare works from YYC/YYZ to basically any AY Asian destination and has been around for years.

If you need miles for *A you can book with CA YYZ-YUL-PEK for $2600 CAD ($1900 USD), sometimes even lower from MU.

How much does it net you to credit to AS?

Any leg carried by BA will not credit to Alaska Airelines
Check the AY code for that flight only AY 0 TO 2000 can be credited to Alaska plan
YYZ/YUL - LHR is operated by BA with AY 5898 codeshare flight which is not applicable to credit miles under either as BA flight segment or Finnair flight
called them on Friday to get clarification and confirmed it

Is there any way to issue the tickets such that AY operated segments are in AY code, and likewise for BA?

Try using ITA Matrix and specify carriers, then see if you get a decent price. It won't be bookable on the Finnair website, almost certainly. If there is a price, you may be able to book through Finnair by phone and have them waive the fee, since it's not bookable online.

there are some routes that will allow you to earn full mileage
some examples are YYZ-ORD-HEL-PEK or YYZ-JFK-HEL-PEK
however in both routes first leg of journey into united states is on economy and then J product starts
above mentioned itineraries can get you full miles 300% credit to AS

While you are “technically” correct given what it says on the website, in practice Alaska doesn’t hold onto these rules if you fly one of their partner carriers. Sometimes it won’t credit automatically, but if you call the mileage plan desk and send in your boarding pass they always credit the miles. I’ve never had a problem with it.

Now for argument sake, how many miles and EQMs does this net on Alaska flying YYZ-JFK-HEL-PEK and back?
