Do you have the booking classes ?
I can't find your fare using the flights.
The only business flight is CAI-JNB ?

Posts like the OP's are a bit aggravating because of how little useful information is actually posted.

So, this isn't a CDG-CPT fare at all. It's two separate fares. An Economy CDG-CAI fare combined with a Business CAI-CPT fare. That's probably the reason why you can't find it. Honestly, I have no idea where the $1,511 price comes from because the cheapest I can get is $1,600.

I don't have a GF link for you, but this should help.

Not silly at all. I fly a lot, but I do not take any unnecessary risks - and MS is one. Have used them a lot - because of lacking alternatives and have also had some insights into their ac maintanance. Feel free and go ahead. C2 to CPT I have plenty of options which are far better than MS.

You clearly feel that flying MS represents an unpalatable risk. Fair enough: we all have irrational feelings, and though we might act on them, it's seldom wise to promulgate them a universal truths. If your feelings have any concrete basis, any factual back-up, then it would be great if you could share those with us.

It's rare indeed that a passenger gets any insight into how maintenance protocols and procedures are handled and put into force by airlines: rare indeed for passengers to show interest in these. So if you are able to delineate in any way the insight you gained and the conclusions you drew from it, i'm sure that would be well received.
