I still see prices in the $2,500 - $2,600 per person range, depending on dates, from DTW - CPT with the outbound on the A350, DTW - AMS. I looked at end of schedule pricing (late July). Similar pricing from MSP (although no A350 connection).

What dates are you looking for? It still appears for me if you find the right dates. It's hit or miss.

Still active. Just booked SLC-CPT July 2019 (end of schedule). $2206 in business class (x 4 passengers), including one night of hotel. KLM metal. 787 SLC-AMS, and 777 AMS-CPT. Will credit to Skymiles - should be 44,000 miles. Click through from TopCashBack which yields $161. Will also get 17650 expedia points, and 26500 Citi TY points. Very happy with this deal.

No, you do not have to stay at the hotel. My wife and I booked one of these deals to Mauritius and picked a single throwaway night at the cheapest possible option and never set foot near it.

Booked DTW-CPT last weekend for three people over Christmas and New Years, ~$2700 pp. Not as cheap as $2300, but a great deal considering the cheapest economy flights over those dates were $2800.

You need to book a minimum of one night of hotel to get the package price. You can book more nights if you want. You can book the cheapest hotel and not check in.
