LAX-HKG one way also available for slightly less than half ($489). Not available in the reverse.

Notable feature, the one-way fare.

So would this earn ~21k EQM? Based on 1.5 multiplier for PE?

Unfortunate. But, US$1143 for the HKG-LAX RT.

Departing Saturdays and Sundays in November and early December with 3-4 nights in HKG, brings the price down to $958. On Friday November 2, the same price for just 1 night stay

Nov 2-4 is available on AAVacations for $986 - that would give you nice EQD as well (I believe).

only if it’s a special fare, denoted by an asterisk.

Where in the booking process does the asterisk emerge (or not) ?

Unfortunately it depends whether on mobile device or desktop. You have to click "view details" when you see your flights and it will show the class. If the class is a special fare, you'll get an asterisk after it.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately no asterisk appears on any of my anticipated dates. Will try again.

unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly common to find no asterisk. People have to work harder today to find special fares but they're out there.

I searched for this route several times for a few days on AAVacations. No asterisk. Finally booked the CX PE from SFO to HKG. Better seats, food, drinks, service and AA EQD. Same EQM
