$1,300 One Way (Biz) India-EWR (SIA Longest Flight)

The most recent agent quoted me the correct change fee, but was essentially trying to sell me a new AMD-DEL-SIN-EWR ticket for 1,40,000 INR.

I've booked a one-way, and all of the dates I mentioned have availability in SQ/EF and Cleartrip, but I'll give them a few more calls before giving up.

As this will be documented, they will be more careful. I think they will not give you random replies. Good luck.

Anyone have experience working with Cleartrip to change dates? Looking to change due to the CX flash sale.
Called a few times and they can't find any availability in any fare class for the dates I mention, even though seats are available on SQ website.
Is it just a case of poorly trained agents or do they see less inventory?

I am thinking the change after the first leg AMD-SIN is flown (for me September 21, 2019) that the ticket is repriced as of the September 21 flown date and not historical price the day the ticket was purchased in October 2018. Is there experience here on this thread changing an SQ ticket after first leg flown with these fare conditions?

Flew this ticket last weekend and wanted to post my observations, especially the rather bad experience at AMD airport:
First, I positioned from the US to DEL (JFK-NRT-DEL) on JL. Experienced the wonderful SkySuite on the flight to NRT (77W) and SkySuite III on the flight to DEL (789).
After three nights in New Delhi, I positioned from DEL to AMD on a separate ticket with 6E. Position flight was delayed due to inbound but arrived at AMD around 830pm (2030) local time, about 2.5 hours prior to SQ departure.
Upon arrival, walked via tunnel from the domestic terminal to the international terminal. After ID and itinerary check at the door, I entered the terminal and was met with security check #1 - while I later learned I didn't need to go through this step since I wasn't checking any luggage, I was asked to line up anyway. Once through, I didn't realize I needed to wait for the guy to put some kind of sticker on my bag, and because he claimed not seeing my bag coming out, he insisted to rerun it, despite multiple folks siding with me. Even after the scan the second time around, he still wasn't paying attention (part of the reason for the long waiting line), I learned from my previous action, and just stood there...I waited until he reluctantly placed the sticker on my bag.
Check-in was smooth, and as a business class passenger, I was escorted to security check #2 . Bag was put aside after scan but no airport personnel there paid any attention to it. After a while, I finally got their attention, and was told things like earphones, wires, snacks also needed to be removed from the bag for scanning. Some signage and communication would have been better, and would have minimized the extremely slow security check #2 .
My bag actually has a small compartment inside, and it had another wire (charging cable) and other items probably not kosher, but no one had bothered to look there.
Lounge at AMD was small but adequate. Nothing stood out other than I couldn't use the WiFi (didn't have a local number). After all of the ordeal, didn't have much time anyway until departure, grabbed a quick snack and some drinks prior to boarding the flight to SIN.
The rest of the trip was amazing, including the 17 hour flight from SIN to EWR. My window seat was by the smaller J cabin at the front of the plane. My only gripe - FAs didn't pay any attention to bathrooms by door 2, it got worse and worse by the hour, was quite disgusting by hour 17.

@Repooc17 I travel a lot through AMD airport & it's like one of the legacy old Indian Airport's. They recently build the tunnel. Before last year good luck finding out how to transit from Domestic to International Terminal. Me being a local i know but i have helped a lot of guys many time's explaining them how to transit.
It's Getting Better maybe it will be there upto the International standards in a few Years.
For the lot of checks you have to go through a lot of checks at any Indian airport as India as some problem with terrorism. That the reason why you cannot access Wi-Fi without and OTP. You can get a OTP on any mobile which will receive text message. And i don't see these improving anytime soon. The security agency want's to be very sure who is getting on an Airplane. That's so much better then TSA who miss 80% of the weapons. At an Indian airport you will definitely get caught.
The stamping think was annoying but that give the security guy just before the boarding gate assurance that you have been checked throughly. LOL..
Hopefully things will be better as many airport in India are now working towards not stamping and i think Delhi & Mumbai airport already started to do that.
Cheers!!

re: #5 this is standard OP in India.
if you exit the secure area after checking in / depositing luggage (usually quite difficult) you will have to get a new boarding pass and all he’ll will ensue. (Personal experience)
supposedly this is is supposed to stop people switching identities but I think it’s due to the generally ineffective nature of Indian airport screening. They know their screening sucks, so they layer on rules and regulations galore instead.
Hopefully you appreciate getting back home 1 piece rather then lapse in security.

Thanks for the feedback, and I appreciate the local guidance. As a matter of fact, I met a lot of helpful locals while in India; although there were some scammers trying to make some quick bucks (rupees) - drivers charging more than twice as much to/from airport, and airport "porters".
I am all for tighten security, but not if it is only for appearance - e.g. paying more attention about a bag of snack than searching the rest of the bag.
Mods, above is OT, so feel free to move to an appropriate thread.

For Airport Security I would definitely say they are really good. They have caught needles & nail Cutter in my carry on which if forgot to take out accidentally.

Indian Security agencies do one of the best job's in the world in screening people. They have a much better rate of catching weapons & contraband then TSA or any other European agency. Indian airport take their security seriously as India has a problem with Terrorism. That's why so many rules & regulations.
Hopefully you appreciate getting back home 1 piece rather then lapse in security.

If you don't mind taking a cab then there's
Hyatt Regency,Courtyard ,Four Points, Aloft & Renaissance in the city. (All around 18-20 Kms from the Airport around 30-40 minutes) But it might take some more time to reach there during peak hour's.
And if you are not local it might take some time getting used to how people drive in the city.
Also it's one of the safest cities in India so need to worry about that. People are very friendly and go out of way to help if you are stuck.

If you don't want to travel too much & stay next to the Airport. The Ummed Hotel is just 1.5 Km from the Airport. It's a 5 start & doesn't get any better then that.

I've got a need to get to Eastern Canada so this helps, albeit it doesn't help my savings account.... (the CX mistake fares would have been nice to have caught).
Just booked a return trip via the SQ website. IDR 196,536, with the outbound to EWR and the return from JFK in the summer.
AMD-SIN / SIN-EWR / JFK-(FRA)-SIN / SIN-AMD.
I'm planning to spend the weekend in AMD with the leg from AMD-SIN on the Sunday evening, arriving early enough to head straight to the office...
I paid a little extra in taxes for the stopover in Singapore on the return as well so that I could put the SIN-AMD leg into my new membership year which starts in December.
