Really appreciate the info in this thread from contributors, including link to document from WY SYD office re. STPC for fares from Oz.

I had assumed the STPC would also apply to this CGK-MXP fare... especially after seeing that the Fare Rules (RPRO1MJK) do not exclude or mention STPC.

However, I am now confused as to whether RPRO1MJK is part of the Special Deal "Enjoy up to 30%* off on Business Class fares to our international destinations" on WY website. The general T&C for those 'Special Deals' do exclude STPC!

Is anyone able to shed light on this situation please?

I've read through this thread trying to understand the STPC. Am I correct to assume that there's no booking required in advance, and I just rock up the the desk when I land in Muscat?

I've also got a voluntary stopover for a few days, I also can't find much information on a short term visa "sponsored by an Airlines"

I just received email from Oman Air Jakarta office. Basically it says following: All business class booking classes are eligible for STPC. You can’t arrange it in advance, you have to do it directly at airport.

Just did CGK-MCT-MXP with an overnight stay in Muscat, can confirm that no STPC can be arranged prior to travel. Once arriving in MCT, look for the "transit accommodation" counter (right before transit security), they are quite quick to issue the complimentary hotel voucher, free visa arrival slip, and will escort you through immigration and customs to the arrivals hall until the hotel shuttle picks you up.

With regards to contacting Oman Air, I would send messages via facebook and twitter as well-do not rely solely on email.

Hi Guys, just started on this route today and am currently in Muscat for the overnight layover. Check in at Jakarta was chaotic, we waited an hour just to check in at the sole business class counter. Counter staff were probably not very experienced with handling large crowds and that led to further delay. Boarding was also not orderly as no announcement was made for business class or gold card members to board first. The flight itself, however, was lovely and we were well taken care of by the wonderful Hannah, who did everything she could to make us comfortable.

We disembarked the flight from Jakarta (business class was full) and just before immigration, there is a counter on the left, next to the visa issuance counter that says "Transit accommodation/Customer Service". We went there and explained that we were transit business class passengers with an overnight connection. The first lady we spoke to was handling another group of passengers so there was a 10-15mins wait before we were served by another gentleman. Within a couple of minutes, he pulled out a list with our names on it with the details of our next flight i.e they were expecting us, which was great! I must admit i had been a little worried when the Oman Air office in Jakarta told us to just turn up at the transfer desk without needing to make any prior arrangements!

He then proceeded to make a quick call to the Holiday Inn Seeb, which was one of the closest hotels to the airport (took about 20mins to get there). Thereafter we filled up the transit visa forms and were escorted through immigration and security screening, all the way till the IHG hotel counter outside at the main arrival public waiting area.

There they had arranged a driver to take us to the hotel and within minutes, we were off! When we arrived at the hotel, they arranged the rooms for us and we were informed that a buffet dinner was available for us free of charge, along with breakfast. Lunch may also be given depending on your connecting flight timing. A return airport transfer was also fixed and we were informed of the timing.

So yes, i hope this experience helps you to be clearer about the STPC procedure for Oman Air business class passengers with layovers exceeding 8hrs.

Happy Travels!

WY again offering interesting J fares to some European destinations:
CGK to MXP or ZRH return 22,8 mio IDR / 1300 Eur/1500 USD
CGK to FRA 21.2 mio IDR/ 1200 Eur/1400 USD

Additionally WY is adding a second flight to MXP on Monday/Friday/Sunday starting from 14th December 18 up to end of winter schedule, thus MCT layover reducing from 19+ to a more bearable 6 1/2 hours.

Discounted fares only offered at Omanair.com not available on OTA, actual offer ends at October 21st but it seems they frequently renew them after few days, same happened in September.

Best bets are on a reconfigured A330 with excellent APEX suites. Otherwise you will get the old seat, which is a very solid lie-flat in 1-2-1 with a lot of space, although not very private.

Its kind of annoying because this new thread was started only a few days after the last post in the original, if people just look a few pages or scroll down or search before posting then they can avoid posting duplicate deals and it’s just easier than repeating q’s and a’s.

Today WY opened again some discounted Biz fares:
CGK-MXP 22.6 mio IDR/1,400 Euro
CGK-FRA 20.9 mio IDR/1,300 Euro
Similar prices to CDG, while for LHR it's 250 Euro higher, not at the level of last year big sales but 10-15% better that the common/usual sales WY very often opens from CGK. Sold until end of March, wide availability until end of the year, available directly on WY and other OTA.
