Makes sense. JFK - MNL works for me. Wish KUL were part of the deal as well.

Yes. It shaved about $150 off the fare. I just booked one to BKK...

How easy are these to upgrade (if at all?) have plenty of convertable CC points.

I don't believe they can be upgraded -- at least, not with Asia Miles.

E fare is not upgradable, even with AM.

I called and they said the $1500 price "was better than the IAP price" and gave no discount...only wanted to add a $39 fee :/

Last night I booked in September LAX-BKK for 1417. Amex IAP gave me an additional 150 discount, paid the fee of 39 for a total ticket cost of 1306.......all in PE (E) fare. Should net a little over 18000 qualifying miles with Alaska and a little over 32000 total miles with my MVP Gold bonus. Great fare in my humble opinion!

Is the 18,000 AS miles based on 10% fare bonus? If so then why total miles equalling 32K?

EQM = Elite Qualifying miles
RDM = Redeemable miles
COS = Class of Service

CX PE credits 100% + 10% as EQM. Distance LAX-HKG-BKK return is 16,618 miles. EQM with 10% COS = 18,280 miles.

As an MVPG you get 100% bonus RDM. (MVP = 50%, MVPG75K = 125%) So, in addition to the 18,280 EQM with the 10% COS an MVPG would get an additional 16,618 RDM miles for a grand total of 34,898 miles for award redemption.

It adds up quickly. 😃

Very newbie question but... Do I go through to the CX website to figure out cancellation possibiities and search this website as well? Are the cancellation fees less when booking into PE? I am not used to buying international tickets far in advance that I may end up having to change/cancel. Thank you in advance for your help.

PE is $100 cancellation fee. It’s the sweet spot for their tickets.

Just to clarify: The $100 cancellation fee only applies for tickets issued in the US (As is the case with this fare). A PE Saver ticket starting in the UK has a cancellation fee of GBP300 / US$400, so it is not a "sweet spot" everywhere. And yes, you can see the cancellation and change fees shown very clearly when you select your fare and flights on the CX website.
