Ba: Osl-lax pe $670 r/t

Oslo to Los Angles in British Airways Premium Economy for $670 Round Trip. The OSL-LHR legs are in Economy, but the LHR-LAX legs (10,000 miles) books into WT+. If crediting to AA you can pick up a little more than $2,000 EQD.

That’s really cheap, made me wonder what plain economy is and whether AA had a fare that coukd be used for SWUs. Yup, $370 in O class w AA metal to LAX.

This must be pressure from Norweigan because its only impacting eco and prem eco and not biz.

I found $669.48 for 12/AP-23/AP

Added: OSL-ORD 11/AP-24/AP for $707.51 isn't too bad, either.

I've flown Norwegian's "business class" and the hard product is significantly better than BA's PE. There is simply no comparison, in my opinion.

Looks like Spring or Fall through the end of 2018. Works best with a few nights stay, but weekend turns are possible. Ex. May 5 - May 6.

Does Norwegian have a similar sale on their premium cabin?

It doesn't appear so, other than their regular low prices. It's interesting that BA / Lufthansa etc are being VERY aggressive in their ex-OSL pricing on certain routes. Seems like a bit of a price war going on, no doubt to hurt Norwegian. Economy on LH is under €250 from OSL - FRA - LAX return. Don't think I've ever seen such a cheap flight.

A bit of extra info for those thinking to take the BA Premium economy flight. You'll earn 200 tier points (1/3 of the way to silver status/OWS)..

On the longhaul legs, you can upgrade these from Premium Economy to Business class for between 25,000 and 30,000 avios each way, depending on the dates. There will be extra taxes + charges to pay on top of this and these will be significantly higher departing LHR than they would from LAX. Upgrading this fare would still represent a really good use of avios for many people.

Doesn't the APD apply only to tickets starting in LHR, but not to connect-thru tickets?

Yes - as long as you keep the LHR connection under 24 hours you don't pay APD and the upgrade cost is Avios + ~$100 return (the cash amount is significantly more if the ticket originates in the US... for some reason the BA YQ on US origin tickets in WTP is much lower than the YQ in CW).

This price has been around for over a year, from ARN/OSL/GOT/CPH TO LAX/SFO/SJC/ORD/MIA/JFK and probably more. I've done this several times. A year ago it was under $600 roundtrip. An easy and cheap way for AA elites to get the EQD requirement.

BA is well known for complimentary upgrades to elites from PE to J on TATLs, btw, especially westbound. (In my only one time I flew BA Y, I got one Y to PE on the overnight). If any Emeralds are considering using Avios to upgrade, I recommend doing it on the overnight/eastbound flight, and chancing the westbound/day flight...
