QR - SYD to EUROPE - J - AUD$5395

Seems like a good deal to me but maybe I am wrong if the savings are not what the website says.

I haven't investigated it other than look at a couple of sample flights from SYD to Rome on Qatar's website and the airfare was approx. AUD$7200.

Looks and smells like the "normal" long-haul J fare on the ME3.

Not a bad fare, but it doesn't seem that buzzworthy. (Disclaimer: I know nothing about the SYD-FCO route specifically...just a general observation. A$7200 feels high, but again I'm no expert...)

There is currently a VN sale as well, from SYD/MEL to LHR, CDG, or FRA starting at ~AUD$4,250.

Based on QR's fares ex-AKL I'd agree with these comments. Generally cheapest fare ex-AKL requires a minimum 7* day stay.

* actually 6 because date of return flight must be at least 7 days after departure, and there is loss of a day getting to Europe.

And a loss of two getting back to NZ then!
