Is there any penalty for not taking the return leg on these? They are far cheaper than a OW ticket!

The no-show penalty is only taken into account if you ask for a refund of the return leg, otherwise, you're just fine to fly only the outbound. You can even make your "one-way ticket" cheaper by combining a J outbound with a Y inbound.

If you search direct on the QR site and don't tick the "Premium only" box it should show you both the Economy fares and the lowest priced J fare. Not all fares are combinable though so worth doing a bit of digging to see the cheapest date/fare combo.

I think it doesn't show business promo fare if you don't check Premium only. Not 100% sure though.

It does show eco, even the promo Y fare.
so the desired "one-way" option comes down to +/- US$ 1'030
