As the [other thread's] OP mentioned each person will have their own ethical stance on this, but keep in mind that these fares are designed to get people home to Florida, and get family/friends down there to help out.
IMO it's one thing to book a great sale months in advance, or even take advantage of a mistake fare when some airline doesn't understand how decimal places work. It's quite another to be taking the last seat from somebody that needs to get back to take care of their damaged home, dead pet, or destroyed business. So if you're thinking about this just for the EQM, I'd urge you to at least think twice.

Agree... I'm not feeling that bad for anyone that fled south Florida to LA which I am assuming that was very few people. Great for the airlines to offer this fare and I hope everyone that wants to take advantage of this fare will. South Florida will need visitors to help get their economy back on track.

Plus, this cap on pricing is not exclusive to the LAX-MIA market, it was something they rolled out on ALL nonstop destinations from Hurricane Irma affected areas in FL; It was indiscriminately applied.
And while true, the airlines (sans JetBlue) originally acted in a way that gave the appearance of price gouging (it may very well have been, but I'm on the fence), snapping up these seats is not going to "stick it" to AA. The most likely result would be taking the seat away from friends, family, rescue & aid workers and even the evacuees themselves.
This truly is not the time to visit most areas in FL.
Sure they need visitors to bring in dollars, but I get the impression that almost all businesses are not yet in a condition to provide a service for your dollars either.
