Interesting, much cheaper from LAX than SFO (this seems to be the case for TLV as well). I also find it strange that OTP and ATH are cheaper than LHR, I guess the demand for paid C is lower. Alas hidden city is problematic on a RT itin.
In any case a nice find though I can't say Bucharest would be on my top 10 list though Athens and Budapest are certainly worthy (having visited all 3).

Ba/aa f/j lax-otp $2376
Wide availability and routing through JFK on AA's 321 is possible in A for both legs, here is a sample itinerary that nets 880TP and 31522 Avios if you're crediting to BAEC.

LAX - OTP (Bucharest) BA/AA J $2300 -Oct EOS
Was looking for flights to Europe from LAX for next summer. OTP seems the cheapest $2300 ish to Bucharest. Other cities too but about 4-$500 more. BA/AA routings

Next summer is a long time away. I would wait, you're likely to see a price <$2k if you wait.

Mostly I notice that BA just doesn't really honor the discounts anymore even for 2017 bookings. GF gets same pricing.

Damn, you're right. Yes, they do not honor the discount anymore, as far as I can tell.
