AB from $2200 various USA-various Europe/TLV in J

airberlin is pricing out around $2250, cheaper than Icelandair and condor in J to get to Europe from the west coast. And airberlin has an immensely better product. Just snagged two seats for Oktoberfest.

Thanks for posting. What to you mean by "immensly better"? Better than?

Btw, Saw LAX-VIE the other day for $ 2580 on AB.

Saga class on Icelandair is domestic F. Condor J is just 2x2x2 recliners. AB has flat beds and judging from the reviews some really good cuisine too.

Great Find

Been looking for a flight to Munich for Oktoberfest myself, definitely better than anything I've found myself the last month, real life saver

Friends of mine liked the product. What they told me: hard product similar to Etihad (much better than LH), food and service good.
Just one bit of warning: According to some articles in the German press AB is financially in bad shape and there is a possibility that they don't survive. Buy the tickets in a way that you are protected in case something happens to them.

Just a heads up: multiple co-workers got stranded in Berlin last week because of a number of flight cancellations, the rumors of bankruptcy keep flying around so as Unterwegs suggested: make sure you are protected in one where are you or the other

AB and AZ are both on the brink of bankruptcy although they're under EY perfusion. I personally wouldn't book with any of them.

Also interesting to note how much US-EU-US award availability there is lately on AB. I flew my mother in law over to Mallorca on a one way ticket and for her return noticed that T-3 days you could get biz awards on most of the AB flights to the US. I routed her via JFK but had i held out longer it looks loike i could have gotten her on the longhaul into SFO today. Agree on longterm prospects, but for short term it is definitely a steal with lots of availability.

Yeah I booked end of September. Are they suddenly going to fold 2.5 months away?

I would say until we hear something dire, it should be safe. Alitalia is bankrupt and still operating.

Personally, I would just make sure that you have a travel policy that covers insolvency of the carrier. It will provide the cash needed to book alternate travel arrangements if the carrier cancels a bunch of flights and is unable to arrange alternative travel for you..

Either that or make sure you have the cash on hand to do it yourself.

Orbitz is offering $149 per ticket for travel insurance.

That's not the only option. Assuming your credit card doesn't provide the type of coverage you need, there may be other third party providers that are cheaper than Orbitz.

Would hate to see the airline go under after the window for a chargeback closes.

I think people are over reacting a little. There's no evidence that AB is in any sort of evident insolvency. They're still operating all their flights.
