Same iteration as last year's fare but cheaper. Fly in PE to TPE then onwards in J to your final destination.

JFK-SIN for $1,138 - https://goo.gl/flights/cWM1
YVR-MNL for $1,185 - https://goo.gl/flights/SduK
SFO-DEL for $1,554 - https://goo.gl/flights/s2vB
LAX-BKK for $1,252 - https://goo.gl/flights/m6iM
and many more...

Some flights book in PE all the way (and others even in Y), so check each segment to make sure you get J before you book..

Also, BKK-LAX in PE for $1155 Sept to Nov, $1385 in July and Aug. Make sure you get the bulkhead or at least an aisle seat as the middle PE seats are a little cramped.

I'm hoping to book JFK-KIX ~12/2 for 13-15 days. Found business class on Air China for $2,300.

Any tips/tricks to get it cheaper?

Different airline and class of service. Not sure you're going to get a lot of help in this thread based on that.

Been sitting on this for awhile trying to make up my mind. Looks like JFK-HKG has gone up a couple hundred bucks. Ugh.

Same here. Almost convinced the wife to do an Asia trip and when I finally put my case to her it jumped up. Can't get anything to Asia now for less then $1800

Not only that, the second legs for all the trips/dates I was tracking are now showing in regular economy rather than business. No thank you.

Dunno if it helps, but you can still get to Taipei for under $1200 in PE. Not quite as nice as SIN for 11 and J in the second leg, but better than 1800:

I just booked SFO-CSX for $1445, with the regional leg in business class (D).

SFO-TPE is their new 359 which is only 7 across in PE.

Didn't see CSX offering but SFO-CGK is $1168 RT thru Expedia. No J segments as CI uses a 777 with PE on the TPE-CGK-TPE segments. Also, $1175 SFO-KUL but no J segments.
