Should be a guaranteed A330-300 with new business seats on NRT-KUL. If I am reading the seat map correct, it looks like some aisles are 1-2-2, and others are 2-2-1. Even a few 1-2-1 rows. Consider this when booking if you want a single seat with direct aisle access.
Also, I saw a KUL-DPS leg on the A330 which surprised me (not sure if it's an A330-200 with maybe not the new business, or if it's the new, better A330-300) - the return to KUL was on a 737. Malaysia is always obsessed with using their apparent huge fleet of 737's on many flights 5 hours or under which has turned me off from using them in the past. |

The configuration is 1-2-1 alternating with 1-2-2. Nothing too tricky about it. |

They have had to make do with the limited number of 330's they have and to maximise the use of their 737's to get back into the black. They are now slowly introducing 330 flights for the Kul-HKG and Kul-DPS sectors which will happen in stages. A lot going on at MH at the moment with talk going around they are going to lease 330's by the end of this year to cope with demand. |

It is nothing to do with obsession. The airline had to retire their entire 777 fleet after the twin tragedies and as part of the airline's economic recovery plan under the new management.

I look forward to trying their A330's soon, or even a 737 if I have to go to KUL for some reason. |

Good to know the backstory. I wish them well. I've wanted to use them, but just could not get excited when every time involves a stop in KUL (when often I can get direct for similar pricing) AND it has been on 737's like clockwork.

Same price on China Airlines on their 777/A350 lie flats. They're supposed to have a great hard product for what it's worth.

MH fares valid from secondary cities at the same price, cts, fuk etc. CI has this price regularly but does involve a long layover in TPE on atleast one portion (stpc applicable).
