Seeing some nice Star Alliance fares YVR-TPE

Philippines Airlines also has it for $1788 but not as appealing an airline

Watch out, i think ANA still has those terrible seats on YvR-HND. I usually only bite at cheap YVR fares to asia if routing rules allow connecting in SFO/SEA/LAX.

YVR-HND has been on the 787-9 with the staggered full flats for awhile now...

UA has the same fare - with NH, there are some very unique routing opportunities to maximize both RDM and PQM for UA, assuming you force ticketing and fly on NH for the overwater flight. If you ticket on 016, the RDM will be sharply reduced.

Doing the Air Canada nonstop to TPE drastically reduces mileage earning, and dramatically reduces service quality vs NH, and even UA.

I am planning on YVR-SEA(stop)-NRT(stop)/HND-TSA(end) then TPE-NRT-LAX-YVR return.

You can also backtrack through DEN to NRT for connections and extra miles.

The YVR-HND flights are on normal NH business seats now, but you can route through SFO, LAX, SEA on either NH or UA if you want to skip HND, which is recommended as any later evening HND flights in either direction offer a far limited, reduced inflight service.

I have GDS access, so I can manually build everything and then take 10% commission on my own ticket...so the best thing is to get a travel agent to book for you (you won't get the 10% though) if you can't piece things together online using matrix or google flights.

Air Canada is starting nonstop YVR TPE service in June...but given their reputation and the loss of miles, I'll pass.

Great fare ex-YVR ! ^ Better option than JL angle-flat seats.

Decent price. HKG routing works as well. TPE is a short flight from the Japanese south pacific islands as well which can be had on EVA.

Do you have any example itineraries for HKG?

Not much benefit flying via Tokyo milage wise over direct as it is almost great circle routing.

You have long layovers in HKG TPE and NRT. Great job! So this can be used for NRT or HKG visits.

One can also route through ICN, but no big difference in mileage compared to NRT.

For those interested to visit Japan instead of TPE, the AC fare also seems to work for YVR-FUK/CTS
