Wow, VS is seriously pushing these new MAN routes! Out of curiosity, does anyone know if it somehow has lower landing fees/taxes than LHR?

It shouldn't be appreciably different. Believe the airport for avoiding APD is EDI.

Not quite yet. Still under deliberation.

EDI (maybe soon?), INV, BFS, DUB all work I believe.

All airports in the UK charge APD (Air Passenger Duty) on departing flights. There are some exceptions, which include the highlands & islands of Scotland, i.e. Inverness.

Belfast has an exemption for nonstop flights to the US, but I believe the regular UA service has now stopped. VS may fly occasionally to Orlando.

Critically, INV-LHR-NYC on one ticket is APD free, but BFS-LHR-NYC isn't.

Dublin is outside the scope of this conversation as it's not in the UK.

In addition there are passenger service charges which are set by each airport individually. Heathrow's are high - probably £20 more than Manchester, but again this doesn't make a real difference to the overall fare.

And finally this fare is available over the Easter break, so they're probably just selling J seats for fractionally more than Y, which would have otherwise been used as op-ups to prevent overbooking!

DUB is not in the UK.

Why would a foreign airport levy a UK APD?

Many Americans were surprised to learn that they need passports to fly to YVR.

Flights from £999 rtn
Departing between:
06 Apr 17 - 31 May 17
Book by 12 April 2017

Have checked some dates and maybe it's the exchange rate but fare is coming out at £1002 rtn. Also includes connections to BOS with DL as well as the VS non stop flight.

After searching the forum and not finding anything, I have just noticed this has been posted already.

I've booked this and the seat map was wide open.
VS are closing the BOS route early (30 SEP instead of 30 OCT) (and SFO too but that isn't in this sale.)

Hopefully they will be back next year.

Damn, $1084 is a good price for this route. Of course BOS-MAN-BOS is $900 more.
