The facts do not support your statement that OSL is unreasonably far from the city that someone has to stay near the airport. The distance by car is comparable to many world cities; the time by public transport is less than most cities with extremely regular service. This deal not for you? Great. Don't come here and give misinformation and tell people they're crazy.
I didn't say that anyone is crazy, I just said that it is peculiar that the airport is so far. I gave objective measure of distance, in km/miles. The airports you quoted are all in big sprawling metro areas with millions of people, and yet the airports are closer. Oslo is smaller by comparison. Anyway.

OSL airport transfer is 20 minutes to city center. About 5 minutes slower than Heathrow Express, a gold standard for city center. Imo of course.

I have, twice. Once I stayed at an airport hotel (on the way to the US). The other I stayed downtown and took the bus because I would have had to take a taxi from the train station to the hotel and it seemed too much of a hassle to me at the time. The bus was dropping off and picking up next to my hotel. The bus broke down on the way to the airport, lol, and the bus driver had to get us a taxi to the airport, lol. All in all more than an hour ordeal. Next time I will try the train, but if you have luggage, or the hotel is far, it will involve another transfer from the train station to your hotel.

Seems the fare is gone now I feel like the kid who didn't get to the candy store before it closed ha ha oh well I am sure there will be other offers soon. So much crazy deals across the Atlantic right now.
