Just like it is not cheap/comfortable for us closer to Cairo to get to the Scandinavian countries where most EU deals originate from.

You can't have it both ways

BA and AF operate the 787 to CAI on a daily basis with real J class seats.

Can someone explain why getting to CAI is so problematic? Isn't it as simple as taking a flight from your origin to CAI and then moving onward to your next flight (being that you're already in the airport...)? Is collecting luggage/border control difficult?

On one of these good qr fares currently. The new terminal is a breeze compared to old times. Yes there is still a large number of security checks even when leaving the lounge but it's no real hassle.

Aegean flies to CAI via ATH from several European cities. I just booked a oneway positioning flight from AMS to CAI for €104. Comfort is ok, decent complimentary meals and drinks and the price IMHO very reasonable indeed.

Thanks! but a 7h stopover at ATH following by arriving at night at CAI and then wait 13h hours for my next QR flight is not worth it for me.
