You can also do a day rate at the Fairmont, which is well worth it.

I stayed at the Hotel Jenn while I was there. I liked the hotel and would stay there again. They have a private boat transfer with all bookings. Reasonably priced will vary for everyone obviously.

When I clicked through to purchase last night, it timed out. So I kept playing with cities/dates and had to go right through the booking process at Priceline to find out what would work. I booked and canceled 2 tickets.

Anyhow, once I found an itinerary that worked, I called Amex and they were able to book it for me. Priceline price was $1951. Amex quoted me $1704 + $39 booking fee (so $208 savings). This is what I ended up with:

JFK-YVR CX889 biz class
YVR-HKG CX859 PE
HKG-MLE CX601 biz class
MLE-HKG CX602 biz class
HKG-YVR CX838 PE
YVR-JFK CX888 biz class
Yay, my YVR-HKG upgrade cleared! One down, one to go. Seems I have to call in to re-issue the ticket, and the CX 800 number I have does not work from Malaysia (using Skype). Is there a way to do this online? Otherwise, it will just have to wait a week.

That's awesome! Were you able to confirm the booking class for the upgraded segment?

Just curious, did you use miles for the upgrade or is it just an op-up at the gate. And how did you get it to price this with JFK-YVR segment in J?

My flights are in Dec. If you go back a few pages, you'll see that I upgraded with Asia Miles for YVR-HKG and HKG-YVR.

Also, if you read back a few pages, you'll see that for some reason, this PE fare books into biz class for all the short segments. Since the thread is only 10 pages long, I highly recommend you reading them. There is lots of valuable information there, including how to get a discount with the Amex Platinum card.

I booked through AMEX, but interestingly they had to search for business class seats specifically on the HKG-MLE legs to get the fare to show up correctly. As a side note, how did you assign the trip to your AA FF# when you booked through AMEX?

Not sure if this is exactly the answer you are looking for but you should be able to just go the CX website and enter the PNR for your flight under Manage Booking, then make any adjustments to FF, seating, etc.

Are there are other CX destinations pricing like this? Did this run back in Aug had a good time, but would like to try and visit another spot in Asia. With my opup experience I'd like try some other CX destinations, but can't find anything that is pricing similarly. Any tips?

I used my Asia Miles number for the upgrade. Will change to AA at check-in.

See posts #80 and 81 (even though I didn't have much luck).
