UA: P Class YYC-SAL C$869 (12970PQM, 6.7CPM)

Interesting one. Looks like the plane stays overnight. Can play with routings a bit but this is the best routing I can find for CPM. You can stick around a day, or two as well ^^. Nice time of year to visit SAL. Works also on the weekends.

I wish those UA P Fare 5.4~6.5 CPM YEG/YYC-CUN/PVR/TGU/BZE came back... It was right around this time too. Those were so fun in the winter and well worth the visit too.

Question SAL?

SAL? Seriously??
Isn't that like the murder capital of the world? Worse than ORD?

It's actually a fairly interesting city with Mayan ruins close enough for a day trip. Like most any city there are areas that are unsafe but there is also a relatively upscale area near the US Embassy that seemed perfectly safe to me.

Spent 3 days there in 2015 and really enjoyed the city and the countryside. Hired a car with a driver for 1 day and saw a working coffee plantation, Lago de Coatepeque (crater lake), hiked Parque Nacional Cerro Verde . Museo Nacional was interesting as well as Museo Arte. Wouldn't hesitate to return to SAL.

It's definitely very third world(poor and no one speaks English) but I've never felt unsafe. That being said, I was visiting the fisherman area, not downtown SAL. The weather is fantastic and it's an interesting city to visit.

I know the airport is open 24/7 so you can stay overnight. I booked this one but with an afternoon departure so I'll be staying at Costa Del Sol to enjoy the beach for a few hours in the AM before heading home!

Just to update you guys. Price is down to $849 and I did complete this run. Took a taxi to the beach, stayed over night and enjoyed the sun in the AM and went back. Beach obviously isn't as polished as Mexico or some of the other Carribean destinations but it was still beautiful and I didn't feel unsafe at all. Worth checking out.
