The trip back was pretty good, Iberia Express offered friendly proactive service with a decent but unispiring hot meal of cannelloni and salad. There was a 35 minute delay before departure and I couldn't work out what it was because the captain's English was unintelligible.
The MAD-FRA sector the following day was operated by the LAN 787 Dreamliner, no WAMOS Air nonsense this time. Once again, service was fairly friendly and proactive from the all male crew. Baggage claim at FRA was a Latin American mess with a huge wait, which cut the waiting time for my train right down.
A couple of things to note, if anyone has a trip upcoming. A LAN boarding pass does NOT offer Fasttrack security at MAD T4, so leave time for long security lines. Is this normal? Priority services were offered at all other stages of the trips.
Secondly, it's quite a long haul out to the S gates, with an underground train ride and passport control to go through. So leave enough time. The lounge is much better out there, though.

Need to fly this OW in June.. it seems booking a return and doing a no-show will be a cheaper option that OW (pricing @ $307).
Any tricks to get the OW down to closer to half of the rt price?

@ttep, buy an eco (i paid 35$ - latin version of the website) and bid for upgrade (bidded 55$ and was accepted, 50%LF in biz - mad-fra 03feb17).
Is the bid invitational? or can you push your bid without having to receive an email etc?
Assume i'd have to join the latam ff program.?

@NA-Flyer, i was in Iberia lounge in T4s, has a really nice view, is not crowded and is located next to the gate, usually

Looking at this thing again, it seems that TFN is available again but for EUR340 this time. It involves an overnight at MAD again. Interestingly, the onward flights to TFN have LATAM codeshare numbers, rather than Iberia numbers. Still a pretty good deal, I think.

they adjusted the fare and now only LA coded flight numbers are valid for this kind of fares.

It's still a reasonable price, actually, because economy class from Düsseldorf is in fact more expensive. Ideally I would like to go to Lanzarote with it, but it doesn't work. I didn't check all Canaries destinations, so there might be others available, possibly also within mainland Spain too?
This time I would credit to Iberia Plus, because I am totally off British Airways and their Executive Club. Last time my partner credited to airberlin TopBonus and got far fewer miles than me, so don't credit there (although if you have status you might get more, not sure if that applies to non AB flights though).
Lastly, it might just be worth waiting a bit...prices may come down a bit. I remember that happening before with this offer.
EDIT It seems to only be bookable on expedia.de and does not work for economy class at all. The LATAM site results in an error, or a no availability page. This is a shame, because there is 2.5% cashback at shoop.de on LATAM purchases. Does anyone know if this is bookable as a package, in conjunction with a hotel?
