SkyTeam: SFO/Others-IST RT business ~$1500

Plenty of dates in autumn, seeing SFO, DCA, IAH, EWR, ORD... to IST around $1,500

Looks like some of these fares are already selling out. I switched SFO to IAH on the dates at OP's first link, and the least expensive fare was $3,800. I also moved the departure date up a day, and while there was a ~$1,500 fare on KL, it requires a 13-hour layover at AMS.

I noticed (and posted about) the cheap IST fares last night, and I still have no idea why they're so much lower than anywhere else in Europe - barring the unlikely possibility that it was a panic-induced fare drop resulting from the attempted coup (and Ataturk being shut down for two days).

No, it's not - this fare has been on sale several times already in the past 2 months, and even cheaper.
