Im flying this on thursday, bought it a couple of weeks ago. I got lax jfk mia uio mia jfk lax for $808. Even got lie flats btwn mia and jfk

I could not find routes through JFK on Matrix but you might be able to trying different days of the week.

I've been considering this trip. If the fare remains valid for spring break 2017 I'll book it. It's a nice deal to an interesting country.

I literally just returned from Quito this morning. Definitely check it out if you can , highly recommend it.

I used Matrix routing code C:AA+ (which gave some 18 pages of different flight connections) and no options through JFK showed up.

You can use the multi-city option for Matrix and force a JFK connection, but I am fairly certain the price will soar.

I was all ready to pull the trigger on this for the fall but I credit my AA miles to AS... nervous that there will be a devaluation by then.
