Cx ow j+f cmb-yyc $2875

Works ex-CMB to YYC, YVR and a few Canadian cities.

CMB-HKG is in J, LAX-YVR is AA J

Not the cheapest fare around but decent if you'd want OW to NA. Can throwaway in LAX.

So, the translation is that HKG-LAX is in F on CX? That is a pretty fantastic deal, in that case, if you are looking to experience was is one of the top products in the world

Where are you seeing this? How are you getting the F portion?

To spoonfeed:

https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...YC0WS1511;sc=f

Goes up to $3,037 when I click through to AA...no big deal. More importantly...this is priced in full J and full F class. 300% EQM for J and F bonus makes this a 10 CPM (dropping LAX-YYC) MR.

Actually, maybe overstating a bit since only HKG-LAX is on AA flight #, but still, thats huge!

EDIT:

Full math (ignoring LAX - YYC) = 25,522 EQM with 3x EQM on HKG-LAX and 1.5x EQM on CMB-HKG.
9,755 RDM (with LAX-YYC)
9,755 RDM EXP bonus
12,000 RDM bonus for HKG-LAX long-haul
3,500 RDM bonus for CMB-HKG medium-haul (less than 3K miles)

Total: 35K RDM + 25K EQM. That's a ~$0.12 CPM for a Cathay F run.

Not running out to buy but still pretty cool.

A bit more expensive than YVR/YYC.

Really interesting fare. Would love to take advantage, but just doesn't make sense.

Does it actually price at that?

That's amazing. And on a side note, I pour in thousands of dollars to rack up miles to a nice flight, when in reality, it's almost a lot cheaper to just buy them straight out now (actually probably cheaper).

I bet orbitz would price it, haven't tried though.

CMB used to be much cheaper. I miss those fares.

Math is wrong. There are no 12,000 RDM or 3,500 RDM bonus for the CMB-HKG and HKG-LAX legs.

You're right, my mistake. Forgot that CX is excluded, even on AA stock.

Many more airlines other than CX are excluded. Even so, the medium haul would have only been 1,000 miles even if it qualified. 3,500 bonus is for discount business ("I" fare) long-haul.

I found out the hard way, as I flew this fare a few weeks ago thinking it got a lot more RDM!!

This fare has been around for a while, look at the filing date in the GDS. there is a corresponding business fare.
I had worked with a TA years ago to try to book and there was a problem with transfers being exceeding in Asia. If I am not mistaken, the CX nonstop from CMB may have breathed new life into this fare. We could not find a way to make it work in the days when CX stopped in BKK or SIN.

I played around with this a bit and found that you can also route via NRT with new JL F as well, either via NRT-LAX or via NRT-ORD (as poster above notes, HKG-ORD is also an option). Even DFW routings can be pulled up with a bit of effort on AA metal (77W). These all seem to work:
CMB-NRT(UL)-LAX(JL)-YYC
CMB-NRT(UL)-ORD(JL)-YYC
CMB-HKG(CX)-DFW(AA)-YYC
CMB-HKG(CX)-ORD(CX)-YYC

67% fare for child, kids fly for $2k, so that's something too.

Thanks for the extra info, esp. the JAL option. Something I have to consider more seriously now. I'll be in the area around the Holidays and I see the fare is still valid then.

Now I just need to convince my wife to let my daughter and I do this while she & son fly back on AC or something.

Cmb-hkg-jfk-yul $3,088.65 usd

HGK-JFK is CX F. The layover in HKG is long, and the last leg is Y. Still, a nice way of getting to JFK and maybe missing the last leg. Found it in january 2017, probably available all year.
