The routing rules are quite generous, so presumably you can stop at most major European cities (and PEK on non-NRT fares) in addition to your destination.

Ive been fiddling around with this,
And I found NRT->MUC on all Etihad Metal. W class (which earns miles) is $300 more. You can take a 21 hour layover in AUH.
Rome is nice option too, with the 77W inbound.
For whatever reason, I can only find Alitalia A330 on the return,
