Yes, if you force the routing through DEN, you can fly UA the whole way if you need UA pqm or actual flight miles (for million miler status). If you want, you can overnight in DEN to rest up.

i know, right? Why woudn't they put in the most luxurious business class into the new B787? I thought ANA business class was supposed to be awesome. It's only $2000 USD for this flight. Pretty amazing deal.

I just looked at this business cradle seat. It sucks so badly. 59" seat pitch. I can't believe modern jetliners make these any more. Even United has stopped these baracalounger style seats. I can't believe that they would do this. That is just painful.

Price on either come to about $2900 CDN or $2300 USD. A good deal. I found plenty of availability on many routes in the summer. Didn't show up on ITA Matrix, but easily shows up on United.com
Folks this isn't the 787 - all international NH 787s have the new business lie flat seat and stellar service. The YVR aircraft is an old regional 767 they are flying as an afterthought on this route....and frankly, I am not sure why they're even bothering with this route in the first place.

The 787 with seats and service far superior to UA is available from/to SEA and just do you transfer there.

Then why is it listed as a 787 as the plane type then?

That information is incorrect...if you try to book online with ANA, you will see the aircraft type is a 763 unless there is a rare substitution.

NH flies from YVR to HND in a 763.

AC flies VYR to NRT in a 788.

They each code share on the other's flight.

NH has two configurations for its 787s: lay flat and recliner.

The recliner is for regional operations, but they use it for as long of a flight as SIN, which is blocked for about 7-hours.

Like all airlines, you have to watch what you are getting.

NH elite members get auto upgrades from economy to business in any revenue booking class on the YVR-HND route for until the end of June. Because nobody is buying those seats.

I finally bought a ticket YVR-DEN-HND-SIN-NRT-LAX-DEN-YVR for $2579.50 USD. This will give me 31,932 PQMs. The HND-SIN is on ANA; everything else is United.

Thanks to folks here for pointing out the DEN routing!
