Do you agree with enforcing a rule based on a Mysterious Leah reason?

Ah, but in the same way that post-security-purchased water is OK because it was potentially screened, P.S.P. snow globes must also be harmless. And P.S.P. orange juice, soda, and wine.

The truth about snow globes must be SSI, but I bet it involves some bad-guy cell, somewhere, drinking heavily during a planning session and making a bet they could make the TSA jump through snow globe hoops with a single email mentioning them as a potential container for H2O2 or something. And the email was intercepted, the TSA jumped on the dangled but implausible bait, and then the cell KNEW its emails were being intercepted.

That sounds too serious for a TSA policy. I see it going more like in the following conversation:

SSI person 1: What about snow globes? How can we make sure they are under 100 mL?

SSI person 2: Snow globes are spheres. Do you know how to determine the volume of a sphere?

1: Oh no! Geometry!

2: Forget it. Lets ban snow globes.

The Mysterious Leah is actually more justification to have for something than for most of our rules. TSA very seldom ever gives reasoning and justification behind the procedures — not to you, and not to us. We're just told to do it, so we do. Occasionally they'll let us know why something in particular is being enacted for us to enforce, but I can count on one hands how many times that's happened.

TDC stuff? We never got justification or reasoning behind any of it. It was basically "Okay, guys, in a few months we're going to be doing this now instead of these other guys. Here's how it's done..." The first official kind of justification for any of it that I ever heard was off the EoS Blog.

You remember it, I'm sure. The "ID is important!" justification.

Of course, revenue trumps security.....haven't you figured that out yet?

It involves pi somehow. Which is either 3 or 3.4. YMMV

Also, sometimes pi is a liquid and must be confiscated surrendered. ;)

I like pi and so does Obama. Holy crap I just broke the code. The TSA started allowing pie because Obama likes pie. Kiss ups!

In that case, here's hoping Obama likes shampoo and small Swiss army knives, too. ;)

Don't get me started on ID rules... I am still trying to figure out how you guys get around with people who look like adults but claim to be teenagers.

Meanwhile, I hope that in addition to personal hygiene products, Obama likes shoes (or has smelly feet), so the shoe carnival ends too...

And WTH does anything the TSA does have to do with security? Most everyone on these boards figured that out quite some time ago. :D

...

Well, if Terry Wrist were to fill a snow globe with yogurt, Western civilization as we now, know it, would end.

FXWizard Jan 13, 2009 3:49 pm

Next time I fly I'll take a peanut butter, yogurt and snow globe sandwich.

Should I use white or whole wheat?
