For all the "extra-secure screening" as required by the Israeli government, but carried out by ordinary TSA employees - they missed the bottle of soda I had in my backpack.
I had bought it within the secured area, but the announcements were saying no liquids over 3 ounces on board - even those purchased after security. There had been several hours layover, and I had forgotten that I had the Coke bottle in my pack, so I was spared throwing out liquids I'd just purchased. On the TLV-ATL return, no one was allowed to purchase duty free liquor either, but only for Delta or Continental flights. If that was also an Israeli government requirement, then why not for El Al (or other) flights to the US also? Is all this just TSA trying to prove its worth so it won't be dismantled in a new administration? |
