Submitting Advance Passenger Information
As a British Passport holder flying LHR-ORD in October, what information do I need to provide and how? The ual.co.uk website mentions this is needed but says nothing about how to submit it. Sorry if it's an obvious answer, this is my first visit to the US.

I believe that the info is actually provided by you to the airline and then on from there, but I'm not expert. I suspect a quick call to the airline will be all you need. Have fun on your trip!! Dave |
You can do it at the LHR quite happily.
http://www.britishairways.com/travel/ba6.jsp/imminfo/public/en_gb has a list of what you'll need. But in basic terms: - Passport Information - Your Address whilst in the USA (include a Zip code if possible) - Country of residence Keep this information as you'll need this pretty much every step of the way for your I-94(W), your blue customs form and at Immigration control (and if you're taking a cab to your your destination in ORD, to get the hotel/residence) |
More and better information can probably be found in the Travel Safety/Security forum.

United will ask you either during check-in or at the gate for the APIS (Advance Passenger Information System) data. You will need to provide an address in the US you will stay or if you are on a tour the address of the first hotel you stay in or if you don't have a hotel yet but renting a car the address of the rental car station. Just the name of the hotel or rental-car station is not enough. You need the actual street address, town, state and ZIP-Code.
For the I-94W immigration card and the custom declaration card which you will get probably on board the aircraft you need also the address together with things like your name, country of citizenship, country of residence, sex, date of birth, town your flight departed from, flight number, passport number, etc.. For how to fill out the I94-W you should look into the inflight-magazine. Airlines must have a description in their inflight magazines if flying to the US. |

On the AA.com website you can fill in the info required online to save doing it at the airport, i dont know if United offer the same facility.

This looks like the APIS info -- now they are asking for all the info on the I94 as well under "ESTA".
