Packing question
Got a question for the crowd...
Flying ROC-LAS this week to visit the family. My cousin loves this particular sausage made in Upstate N.Y. and I want to bring him some. My intention is to double bag the meat to prevent leakage and pack it in an insulated picnic bag/cooler to keep it cold. I'm pretty sure that the temperature in the luggage hold will keep it cold. My question is this -- will it make it through security. TSA has nothing about food in a suitcase of this nature. Since the flight is domestic, I don't anticipate trouble with the meat issue, but I never know what to expect (I am randomly selected for extra security every time I fly, among other things). Any thoughts? |

You shouldn't have any problem, especially since it sounds like the meat will be going into your checked bag.
(If you take it through the checkpoint, remember that ice or gel packs are prohibited unless they're needed for medical reasons.) |
People bring frozen meats through the checkpoint every day. There's no problem with your plan as long as you leave the ice/cooler packs at home. :)
