LHR T5 today

No laptops out, no shoes (even heavy boots) off, no freedom baggie. Couple of folks at the queue entry reminding PAX that drinks were not allowed.

You could tell the Americans, they were the only ones walking through in stocking feet. . .

Wasn't in line long enough to see what exceptions there might have been, if any.

When I went through T3 last week, they still had the separate shoe x-ray going. As I was directed there by a security guard, I said in a loud voice, "Mr. Brown still has a foot fetish, I see." The guard was still laughing by the time I had by loafers back on.

I was above the arctic circle the last two weeks and my only (intermittent) connection was through an equatorial satellite at .40/minute. ;)

T3 a week and a half ago, shoes had to come off. No separate shoe x-ray area, just the regular X-ray, US style.

Good news on T3! ^

I went through T3 a couple of days ago, and the separate shoe screening area was still in operation.

Not necessarily.

I bought a pair of quick slip on/off heels for travel to the US. Imagine my surprise when I realised the metal posts in the heels would set off the WTMDs in Montreal and Toronto on flights within Canada! Rather than go through the hassle of getting wanded, having to remove my shoes, my feet wanded separately, and the CATSA agent being all biatchy, I just take them off every time now.

I'd buy another pair, but most heels have those metal posts and make it a moot point.

Yesterday I asked about shoes at T5 and got the reply 'It's Friday, shoes off'

Same thing on Thursday in T3, but the security guard waved me to the other side so I wouldn't have to go through it!

It was shoes off at T5 on Thursday this week.

Why can't they provide plastic feet covers like they do at some airports in Europe? I don't have any desire to catch other people's infections (and I do feel a bit concerned despite the fact that I never go anywhere barefoot, ever).

I guess I have to carry my own...
