Portions of the post that previously appeared in this space have been deleted. I would provide you with a reason why, but doing so would likely be against the TOS.

I only removed it from my pocket because the TSA agent did a manual pat-down and asked what it was.

Could I not have removed it? I'm thinking that would have led to larger "control" issues that, at 7:30am I was not in a mood to deal with......

If you were asked to remove it but refused, a supervisor would have been called ... if you still refused, you'd be talking to a LEO. Beyond that, I have no idea.

Pretty much in line with what I assumed would have transpired. No need for all of that.

Unless something showed up on x-ray I can't imagine them doing that.

A manual patdown would be an exception -- however unless you have a pacemaker or the WTMD is non functioning you won't be subjected to one.

Even then, you could toss your wallet in the X-Ray...

I've never gone through a wallet, and I've never seen anyone at my airport go through a wallet, so...

Well, I promise you they did.

No pacemaker and although I'm no expert, I'm pretty sure the WTMD was working.

Would have gladly done so.....but they decided to look through it rather than run it through. :(

Makes sense to me.....hence my original question

I never take my wallet or card case out of my pockets. No metal, no problem.

I did have a TSA screener once flip through my passport and start asking me why I've been to Bahrain and why I was stamped into HKG on Aug 1, out on Aug 2, in to YVR on Aug 2, into HKG on Aug 3, out of HKG on Aug 4. I told him I wanted a Tim Horton's donut between meetings.

I thought I was funny, he thought I needed a secondary screening.

Funny yes, but since you were getting a secondary anyway, it might have been better to tell him 'none of your damn business, and stop looking through my passport.'
