Which airports have TSA comment forms available?

A common complaint heard here, and a common suggestion so far at the TSA blog is to have complaint/comment forms prominently displayed at the security checkpoints.

This seems like a reasonably easy thing to do. How hard could it be to print off a hundred or so copies of the form and get some plastic display holders at Office Depot, Staples or Kinkos? More to the point, how hard would it be to put a .pdf version of the form up on the TSA web site?

TSA has claimed on tsa.gov/blog that it is interested in feedback from the flying public. It is fairly obvious that one way to get feedback would be to provide a form for passengers to fill out if they wish. Making comment forms readily available is a low cost, quickly implemented way to solicit feedback. I would suggest that a) the speed at which forms appear and b) how ubiquitous they are would provide a good indication of how sincere TSA management is when it says that it wants to hear feedback from the flying public. (I've got my own opinion about their sincerity but I'd be happy to have them prove me wrong.)

So how about it? Let's monitor TSA for two weeks. Post the airports you travel through and whether or not complaint forms are prominently displayed. I'll check tsa.gov from time to time to see if anything shows up there. At the end of two weeks we'll either know that TSA really does not want meaningful feedback or that they are too incompetent to operate a copy machine.

If folks here think this is a worthwhile effort, then in a couple of weeks I'll post the results at tsa.gov/blog and give them kudos or criticism as the results warrant.

Here's my result for this week:

BNA (C/D concourse) - no forms
BWI (A/B concourse) - no forms

tsa.gov home page - no link to a form

I passed though a checkpoint recently and after screening was done, the last thing each pax passed as they exited the TSA area was a large stand with a poster inviting feedback. One either side of the stand was a holder with plenty of preprinted comment forms and there was a drop box in front if you wanted to fill out your card right then and there if you wanted to drop in your card, or the address to mail in the card was printed on the form.

I don't ever remember seeing such a good set up for true feedback. ^

The airport was PHX - Phoenix, AZ (NWA gates)

I can also add that I have been refused comment cards at BDL, MKE and BWI in the past year after asking for them. :td:

I have a feeling that they all have the forms, you just need to inquired with the Supervisor on duty.

MSP has them.

Actually, I have been 1) told that they didn't seem to have any available right then and 2) told that I had to get one from the supervisor and the supervisor wasn't available right then and 3) I could get one from the supervisor if I provided ID and told her why I wanted the form.

Hat's off to PHX, just providing the forms is a start. Now...if they'd just read them and actually take to heart some of what they read...

I just carry my own. Always good for an interesting reaction when you start filling out a form they didn't provide. :D

good on you ^. do you have a link to a form(s) as i'd like to add the form to my "tsa rules & regs" folder which lives in my briefcase when i fly.

MCO had them out in plain sight just before the ID checker. Interestingly, when the checker say me pick one up, he decided to play spot with me. Also interstingly, he had his id badge on backwards and looked surpised, but complied when I asked him to turn it around before answering his silly question, what's your birthday?"
I figured I might need the form as I don't remove my ortho shoes . . . but those folks at MCO were very professional - even asking the WTMD guardian whether I alarmed.
No, I decided a silly spot ddid not merit filling out the form.

At the El paso airport they have a table set up after you go thru screening with the comment cards available.

I don't know whether there's a link, but here's my strategy. If the cards are in a free-standing "TAKE ONE" display, I always take an extra (cuz I'm not so good with pen. ;)) If I have to ask for 'em at the sup's stations, I say, "May I have two 'compliment cards', please." (heh heh heh)

OP -- PHX has/d one of these free-standing displays after the c/p leading to the AS gates.

I've seen them on a freestanding display at MSY low A, just past the checkpoint.

You could always email the TSA Contact Center regarding any comments or concerns: [email protected]

true but you stand a better chance of seeing a pig fly as opposed to getting a response which actually addresses the issue you wrote about.

I sent an email to the contact center on December 11, 2007 asking if it was TSA policy to allow a passenger to watch as his carry-on bag was searched or not. To date I have yet to receive a definitive answer. I've gotten replies about checked baggage and information on how to submit a claim for damaged luggage but nothing that addressed my actual question.

I've pretty much decided that the contact center is an automated setup that responds to certain keywords in the inquiry received and sends a canned response with no human intervention. The alternative explanation is that if people actually look at the inquiries, they are incapable of comprehending plain English and basic thought. If you think that sounds too harsh, I'll be happy to post the entire email chain and let you judge for yourself.
