Confession of a TSA Agent
I just saw a thread on a.net with this link:
Confession of a TSA Agent We know every story has two sides and the same way we as passengers encounter strange things at TSA checkpoints TSA Agents encounter crazy passengers. As it is unprofessional for a TSA agent to abuse its power it is not right for a passenger to act like a jerk and call these agents names. There are two things about the article which I think are weird. First the baby-incident. I kind get the feeling this story is becoming an urban legend. Second thing I think is weird that you will be put on the no-fly-list if you verbally abuse a TSA agent. So that's the real purpose of the no-fly-list? I thought it was meant to keep out highly suspicious people with thought connections to terrorist. I know the whole o-fly-list concept is big BS but that the TSA has a rule in place to put people for minor offenses on it?? |
More propoganda
That whole article was a bunch of bull...t.
First he says: What the traveling public needs to understand the necessity for flexibility. If a passenger asks us why we’re doing something, in all likelihood we couldn’t tell them even if we really did know the answer. It’s my belief that passengers should be required to know the rules and regulations, considering they’re the ones doing the traveling. Let's see a show of hands from those who have put on the DNF list because they gave a screener some well-deserved lip. The bad guys keep testing the security systems of this country. They watch and observe at airports, bus stations and train stations. They take pictures so they can refer back to them. They draw diagrams of checkpoints, x-ray machines, and they are continually looking for loopholes to our security procedures. |
If they don't know why they are doing things, how the heck are we supposed to know?????
|
I am so tired of the "bad guy" analogy being used for whomever this government thinks is against them. The ubiquitous "they and them" that are out there trying to get us is demeaning to the people of this nation.
Am I going to be singled out and given a secondary because I roll my eyes at a screener at T2 at LAX for telling me to take off my wedding ring, which I will not do because it's metal? No way, no how. It's not going to alarm. I am so tired of the double talk and nonsense that comes out of DHS that I could scream. Pat themselves on the back for the little things, but still not do cargo sampling and know what's in the belly of the plane. Sorry for the rambling. I know lots and lots of TSO's and the older ones are ready to leave in droves. They see the truth and it's not at the airport. ab53 |
This got my attention:
"I don't retaliate against them, but what's important to note is that if a person is acting in a manner that is belligerent, unruly, hostile, violent, drunk, moronic, idiotic or otherwise not congenial and angelic, then we have a process that has to be done to determine if this person can continue on their flight without being a burden to the staff and other passengers." So, to fly I have to be "congenial and angelic"? I can't be grumpy or abrupt? What is this, second grade? [Don't answer -- I KNOW it's second grade.] |

Oh this article is so full of Bullock its not even funny, and i will agree with poster about this being written by PR folk to try and deflect that bad press there getting from the idaho incident and was probably written by Nico. If the writer is truely a ex-leo he must have been a pretty bad one if he left a job with 10 years seniority to work for the gubamit for the low pay they get paid.
I did send AOL a nice little note about that article, lets see if anything becomes of it. Its just makes me wonder why TSO's think that the general public is just going to roll over for them and do what they want when they cant have the common courtesy to ask in a calm voice rather then bark, yell and force compliance through fear and intimidation. If you are nice to me i will be nice back its common courtesy, but if you tell me to give you respect your not getting anything but your attitude back in your face. Since most screeners are barking when i go through they dont get squat as my BP is going up because of there attitude and lack of proper customer service. The general public just needs to start filing more criminal complaints againist TSOs for there behavior, and not through TSA, but through LEOs. IE Sexual assault for pat-downs and gropes, and for the famous "do you want fly today" that one you need to scream bloody murder for a LEO and then submit criminal complaints for them making a terroistic threat and for assault (you dont have to touch someone for it to be assault just have them feel like there about to be harmed, its battery if they touch you.) Then if one of them ever grabbed me its not going to be pretty. That should get Kippie attention when screener's end up in jail and the other talking heads have to spin it and cant. |
what a bunch of bull! <grrrrrrrr>
this part i like best..... Try and remember that TSA employees are human beings. We make mistakes just as everyone else does. I don’t go to your place of employment and start cursing at you and calling you rude, crude and socially unacceptable names. So please offer me and all my TSA co-workers the same courtesy. Prepare in advance of your trip by knowing what’s expected of you and what you are and aren’t allowed to take in your check-in and carry-on luggage yes, you are human beings and yes you should be treated with respect but it goes both ways sweetie. treat others the the way you want to be treated-cop an attitude and you get mine right back. prepare in advance and know what's expected-d'uh quizzkid. most frequent fliers know the drill only to have those who are supposed to know (n.b know) and enforce the rules simply not know what they are doing. case in point: lax t-7 footbridge, sunday january 20th approx 9pm. gatekeeper at the wtmd does not know the definition of orthopedic shoes or orthotics as when i told her i was wearing orthopedic shoes and orthotics, she simply had a blank stare and yelled for her supervisor with "this person wont take off his shoes as he be wearing ortho somethings on his feet" (the quote is verbatim tho i don't think this tsa employee would know the definition of "verbatim" either) yes we all make mistakes and i'm the first one to agree with that but we all don't make up rules and then threaten others when called out on the fact the "the rule you just quoted is simply not true". |

Yeah, the "process" is to get the GSC (Ground Service Coordinator) for the passenger's airline, whine to the GSC that the passenger is not willingly suffering the particular BS of the day/screener, and then watch the GSC roll their eyes and clear the passenger to fly. Way to go, Big Man/Woman... |

If I ran a company in the same disgusting, un-American manner that the pissants in charge of the TSA run the TSA, I'd be bankrupt and in both civil/criminal court. You and you co-workers chose to work for this sick, un-American agency. Don't whine when people treat you exactly as you deserve to be treated for making this choice. |
What a load...
What a total load of crap this article is...

Spiff, please watch your quotes. I didn't say what you quoted, it's the section of the article by the TSO that I had quoted.
I'm on your side in this. :) I fixed my post to clarify that I quoted the jackass TSA person who wrote that trite piece of journalistic rubbish. :) Thank you for bringing that to my attention! |
Dear Scubatooth: what the TSA does has NEVER been "customer service." It is either coercion or outright threat. IMHO it is generally criminal.
I won't line up for it any more. Once was far more than enough to educate me as to what our airports and government have become. Still lining up, are you? |
Propaganda continues.
And the statement about adding you to the 'do not fly' list is proof that there is retaliation. |
