Man gets through DCA security with a gun.
|
So sad...the guy gets a summons for a misdemeanor for being honest. Had he put it in his bag and kept his mouth shut the screener would still be searching for dangerous shampoo bottles and this guy would not have to deal with the problems. I'm glad the screener is on the way out (I hope), but this guy shouldn't get hosed for this.

ID wouldn't have, but he would have been caught sooner if he had a bottle of water in the bag.

I can't understand why the guy would speak up about it. On the other hand, I also really don't understand how someone could "accidentally" take a gun to the checkpoint.

In fairness, you do have to charge him, although clearly with something less than if he hadn't come forward. If you steal a car, and then bring it back undamaged before the owner knows its gone, and tell the police, they're still going to arrest you.

People, people, people....don't you all know that this is part of Kip Hawley's plan of "designed inconsistency?"

Cases like this is why there's a thing called judicial discretion. I'm sure that will be exercised in the case at the airport. |

By the letter of the law, yes.

I suspect the Arlington County court system might be willing to exercise such discretion. However, I figure that even if they do, then he's still going to be facing a $$$ fine from the TSA, and he'll have to go to kangaroo court to try to beat that. These are the same bozos who gave a fine to a woman over her leather bookmark, mind you. |
This latest breach at Reagan National has air travelers disappointed but not discouraged. Passenger Rob Padgett said, “Their security is tight, it's tighter than it's ever been, so whatever the number of incidents is, it's not many, so, I trust it and I feel safe.”
passenger rob padgett = kettle The TSA released a statement to Fox 5 Tuesday afternoon which read in part, "TSA is aware of the security incident which occurred over the weekend. At this time the security officer who failed to identify the firearm is on administrative leave and a full investigation is underway. Appropriate actions will be taken once the investigation is complete." the tso should be fired but 5 hockey pucks says nothing other than "remedial training" will be done |

The TSA look like Keystone Kops (again). You can be damn sure they're going to make someone pay for that. |
First off I always know where my guns are so don't think that could've happened. However if it had've I would've kept my mouth shut & just carried on to my destination then to figure out how to get it back home.
What a friggin waste looking for dangerous water bottles which they are all over then miss weapons. |
