Moving between LAX terminals
My parents will be flying through LAX this March and I had a question about moving between terminals if not connecting to a different airline. They are flying in to and out of LAX on United metal which would put them in Terminal 6 or 7. However, I would like them to be able to access the NWA World Club which is in Terminal 2. While I know that it is physically possible to move between the terminals would they be able to get through security to the NWA WorldClub without tickets to fly an airline in that terminal?
Thanks in advance. |
Haven't been to LAX a lot lately (HATE IT!) but as I recall from UA to terminal 2 is either a pretty hefty hike around the horseshoe or a ride on the shuttle, both of which are a PITA. I'm not sure what is at the NWA club that would make 2 trips through security (if possible) and a long commute worth it.

Are they Worldclub members? If so, see what the Worldclub requires in terms of access by non-traveling people. They may have to schedule a meeting 24 hours in advance and get a gate pass.
Another option is a couple of NW fully refundable tickets. In either case, there's no T7 to T2 shuttle airside, so they will have to exit T7 and walk or ride the connection bus to T2 and then reclear "security". |
If they are world club members (Or Plat Amex) they can walk to T6 without leaving the secure area and use the CO PClub.

Depending on the driver and/or your persuasiveness, the American Eagle shuttle can get you between the terminals without having to reclear security.

I did not realize they could be persuaded to visit T7 or T1. American Eagle codeshares with the occupants of T2, T3, T4, T5, and T6, but has no such agreements with UA, US, or WN as far as I know.
Could you walk to T6 and go from there? Only a 5 min walk or so depending on gate. |
You need an onward boarding pass for a T2 airline to get airside - no airside connections with other terminals.

Not worth the hassle!
Stay within the secured area of T5/T6/T7/T8 (all connected) and use the CO President's club if their type of membership allows it.
The CO President's club at LAX in T6 is MUCH bigger and IMHO nicer with a real live bartender! If you are using some sort of a pass only valid at NW WorldClub, Save it. Buy a pass at the Delta Crown Room in T5 instead (connected by tunnel from T6) |

Is the T5-T6 tunnel open?
The NTACs at LAX keep the T4-T5 tunnel closed for "stupid security reasons." |

T5 to T6 tunnel is open because Delta has flight connections at LAX and uses gates in both terminals (owing to the fact that T5 was once all WA, and DL had a couple of gates in T6, but I digress or am old, I can't remember which...now get off my lawn! :D )
