Write to Congress
Folks...
There is a ton of negative news in the media now about TSA. This is a phenomenal time to really start contacting legislators about fixing TSA once and for all. Until recently, I worked in a Congressional office. I took a look at our form letters, and we sent out 5 letters to people complaining that TSA started allowing scissors, and ONE to a person who said it was a good idea. 5 letters to an office about an issue is a lot- 10 or more is a relative tsunami. Be specific about your complaints and make sure to elucidate specific suggestions on what to do. Stress that the solution is to make them less abusive, not more abusive. Personal anecdotes work well too. If you want to really do well, call your Congressman/Senator's DC office and ask to speak to the Legislative Assistant who handles homeland security and give them a 2-minute rundown on the phone. I agree.
Even though I don't work at BWI, DIA, DCA, ATL, ORD or any of the other major airports, when one TSO abuses a passenger, the rest of us get a black eye. I, too, would love it for Congress to put pressure on TSA to discipline abusive TSOs. |
