This disgusting list and disgusting little Communists like Kip Hawley and Michael Chertoff should be terminated.

Deborah Sherman, the one who reported on this story, is also the person who broke the story about the 90% failure rate by the DEN TSA.

Shout it out loud

I wish that this type of story would be played out on a more national level. $200 million so far to make sure my drivers licence matches my boarding pass. Nice use of funds. How will it get better Mr. Chertof?

"It will come down to the funding level in fiscal 2008 to see how fast we can implement it."

Where's the shouts of fiscal responsibility?

Where's the shouts of competency or even common sense. Though speaking to the choir, it should take about 1 minute to know that security is not assured by "proof" that a name on a BP matches a name on an "approved" id and doesn't appear on the "No Fly List".

It's a bureaucracy. It exists to perpetuate itself. There will NEVER be shouts for fiscal responsibility. Don't bother hyperventilating over it now - we should have tossed Sen Daschle under the nearest moving bus when this mess was federalized.

Best, Dave

While the TSA said the No-Fly List has stopped terrorists from getting on planes...
Prove it. Who ? When ?

Perhaps the TSA spokesperson simply umm.. misspoke. Or lied.

Well that is sensitive information and we can't tell you!! For your own good of course....

Reading the articles on that site (both the linked one and the others) will give you chills. If you only thought we were scr@wed before you'll KNOW it without a doubt after reading some of that.

Not only do we need more stories like this but we also need follow-through. There will be momentary outrage and sympathy for people with common names, and then something bigger and more important will come along. Let's hope it eventually starts to stick.

How do I search the list to see if spiff is on it? If he hasn't made it by now, then I am safe

Do you honestly feel like political/peace activists make it on the list? Or is it just a big coincidence?

It's not a matter of "feeling" it to be the case. We've had documentation here in this forum of protesters being added to the Selectee List.

OK, for the sake of discussion, why do you think political/peace activists are put on no-fly or selectee lists, if they're not doing anything wrong or terroristic?
