Someone beat me to it posting about this. Although my title was better ;)
How many snoglobes will be confiscated in the interest of aviation security? They were yelling "No snoglobes" at LGA Friday night. This morning at the pre-screen let me check your liquids table at SAN there some poor kids snoglobe on the desk after having been confiscated. Osama has won. We've become insane. |

A workaround would be to stuff the snowglobe (if it's small enough) in your pocket and go through the x-ray detector. If the snowglobe doesn't have metal on it, it won't beep.

I just got back from a trip to New Zealand. I bought a small snowglobe in Auckland and flew with it AKL-CHC-ZQN-AKL-SYD-SFO. Then when I re-cleared security at SFO the TSA spotted it. The boomerangs I had (which are technically a hunting weapon) were fine, but the snowglobe with a baby lamb in it, oh no, thats a huge threat. It's so nice to get a warm welcome home after flying internationally for a week.

Has the world gone absolutely nuts-off? :( OMNI to uva: Are you the one who had a thread a few years back about championship boomerangs as carryon? |

Boomerangs won't clear at LAX. Considered dangerous weapons just like sno globes, bath and body works anti bacterial soap, oh the list could go on but what good would it do?

All I know is next time, I'm going to pack my Osama-holding-an-AK47 snowglobe in my checked bags. What a hassle!

Just went through security at LGA A gates... the people in front of me had their snowglobe confiscated at the table before the ID check. I left my liquids in my baggie inside my carry-on by mistake, and they didn't say anything.
