Left jacket at ATL security check point, how do I get it back?
On Monday, in a hurry, I managed to leave my jacket at the security check point. I do not live in Atlanta, and though fly through often, will not be back for a while.
How can I contact them? Or am I just screwed. |

You can always call ATL's lost and found and see if they found it. Granted, this was before TSA, but I left my cell phone at the checkpoint in PIT when I was hurry. Called lost and found and learned that they gave it to USAir. Called their office and they mailed it to me.
I wouldn't get my hopes up, but it wouldn't hurt to call. |
This is a list of phone numbers and a link to register the loss of an item at ATL at this web site: http://www.aatc.org/cc.asp. No specific number to contact the TSA there, but I am thinking that someone there might be able to try this for you. There is also a general number for the Atlanta Airline Terminal Corporation: (404) 530-2100 ext.100. Good luck.

Let us know if you get it back. I once forgot my coat but had time before boarding to run back to the check point and get it. Once sure does make you remember to not repeat that. Now I count how many bins and bags I push into the x ray and wait for all to come out. Most pax seem to put their suitcase on the belt, then put the bins for shoes, baggie, laptop, and coat. It might slow the line a little, but I now try to grab the bins and put them in first with my suitcase last. When redressing, I have my shoes on and coat on and other possessions in hand before my suitcase comes out. Very unlikely to walk off holding a freedom baggie and laptop and no suitcase. Also the bins sail thru the xray, if there is a questionable object it is in the main bag. If they are going to pull it for a hand inspection, if all your bins come out first, you get your shoes on and valuables protected or at least in sight while they paw through your dirty laundry. |
