Is hair wax considered a gel by the TSA or a solid?

I've tried searching online found one instance of a person being told by an agent that it was considered a gel.

Also if this hair wax container is 3.5 oz but the label indicating the size is no longer on it, will it be allowed in my carry on bag or Freedom baggie?

I'm sure that in most cases, it will be considered as a gel, thus prohibited if over 3.4 ounces. Being that the container is 3.5 and the label is missing, the STSO may just allow it through. It would be at his/her discretion. If there's not much left, give it a try. I think you should be able to get it through without incident. Good luck!

It is a gel and don't try to take it through DEN. The label is missing and that means that you are trying to take something that was labeled at over 3.4 and even .1 FL OZ will not get you by.

Your best bet is to put it inside the baggie with your other toiletries.
