Today at BOS the Delta terminal's medallion line seems to have vanished. There is only a separate line for the Delta shuttle and air crews. Add to that there are only 3 total operational lines and you've got a nice backup.

Anyone know if the TSA is trialing some new program of having 4 of their screeners standing around bored in the screening line? The ID checkers here are contractors so the TSA screeners are literally just standing there. They could at least be manning another screening line unless their bored demeanor reflects some new highly secretive profiling training..

Same thing last month at the US gates @ BOS when I was there. One (1) line open that backed up more and more as I was waiting.

Probably a simpler explanation like it was time for a tea break or something.

I understand the TSA side of your point, but the issue about the lines is more of a Massport thing.

But it sounds as if the FSD (or whoever deploys the TSAers) didn't get a memo.

... and going by the thread title, I thought this would be a discussion about whether TSA is overstaffed at smaller airports.

Whats up with all these TSA folks just sitting at the beginning of the security lines. The only thing they do is direct you to the SSSS queue when the id checker sends you over.

... taking over the contract ID checker jobs -- this opens up new opportunities for the TSA, challenged as DHS-TSA already is.
