Study finds DHS not focused on terrorism
My advance apologies if this needs to go to OMNI-land; I figured I'd start here given the focus on the TSA and DHS in this forum.
Basically, the group TRAC (Transactional Records Action Clearinghouse) analyzed DHS filings in immigration courts and found that only 0.0015% of cases have anything to do with terrorism, and only 0.014% have to do with "national security violations." CNN Story

[...] According to the report by TRAC, which is affiliated with Syracuse University, the results show that there is an "apparent gap between DHS rhetoric about its role in fighting terrorism and what it actually has been doing." DHS spokesman Russ Knocke called the TRAC report "ill-conceived" and said the group "lacked a grasp of the DHS mission." |

They needed a study to determine this? Gee -- they could have asked any of us...

Just how did the FBI, who is tasked with investigating domestic terrorism, not make it into Homeland Security?
I guess somebody knew enough not to board a sinking ship. |
I'm surprised DHS didn't make some statement that ICE is concerned with all aspects of immigration, not just terrorism, and thus "justified" their extremely low rate of terrorism prosecutions that way.
Why are the administrative portions of immigration & customs under DoJ and the investigative/enforcement portions under DHS, anyway? |

The DHS is focused on little or nothing, and as a result executes poorly on much or nearly everything.
When you're responsible for much, you're accountable for little. Such is DHS. |
