"denied...exit from the U.S." ???
From the new Vaterland-sicherheit program for "redress"
<quote> The Department of Homeland Security's Travel Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP) is a single point of contact for individuals who have inquiries or seek resolution regarding difficulties they experienced during their travel screening at transportation hubs--like airports and train stations--or crossing U.S. borders, including: (snip) denied or delayed entry into and exit from the U.S. at a port of entry or border checkpoint </quote> Citizens, can we really be denied exit from the Neocon-paradise?? http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/redress/index.shtm |
A true American would never want to leave.

If you actually read the text as quoted it doesn't even come close to implying that someone would be denied exit from the US.
There are plenty of legit complaints to make about the TSA. No need to get worked up crying wolf. |
It is illegal to prevent someone from leaving the USA except in cases where the person is facing criminal charges or the like. That's why there is no passport control upon exiting the country.

There is a Federal crime called something like "flight to avoid prosecution." It's a quick and easy way to turn a routine state crime into a Federal offense.

No, but it's been longstanding US law that you can't prohibit someone from leaving who wants to leave. I don't doubt that it's a reaction against historical governments that wouldn't let people travel without permission, just like some of the other freedoms that were traditionally taken for granted in this country were a reaction to things that were not allowed under British rule.

Since we're getting rid of so many unnecessary freedoms and civil liberties, it would be no surprise to see this one dropped too. It's for our safety and security, after all...
