ID Stupidity Puts FA Out of Work
KPTV Article
"A flight attendant said she’s been grounded after car thieves stole her money, credit cards and identification... ...Enoch said she flies in and out of New York on the weekends, but without her airline ID and her card from TSA, she can’t work. She said she lost about $1,000 worth of items." It's bad enough that she got ripped off. Now without her Komrade Kippie Kard, she can't even go to work. :td: :td: |
Red flag!
This has nothing to do with the anti-TSA rant you would like to turn it in to. The employee lost her airline ID and SIDA badge, which are required by the FAA (not TSA) for her to engage in work for a Part 121 air carrier. As soon as they are replaced by the company (generally a couple of days), she'll be back at work. Non-story... airline employees lose badges from time to time. |

Hate to say it, Spiff, but the stupidity charge belongs squarely on the FA:
Malloree Enoch said she was working out at Bally’s Total Fitness in Fairview last Friday when she saw a man stealing her coat, purse and identification out of the front seat of her car. |

I disagree. Why should she be grounded?
TSA has nothing to do with the loss of her ID or her need to have it... That is an FAA issue. Try again later! :D |
I disagree on this one - there is no need to have ID for passengers to fly. It's not at all unreasonable, however, that airline employees have ID that can validate their identities. After all, the FAs are the ones around when the cockpit door is opened during flight (i.e. serving food). Having an ID requirement doesn't seem unreasonable in that context.

She left her coat, purse and identification in the front seat of her car, in full view of passersby?
I think she can utilize her time on the ground to think through how she got into this mess in the first place and where her personal belongings should be stored in the car, and when/how they are safely put there. The FA in question is hereby awarded the "Dunce of the Month" award for April 2007. |

Missed the target on this one Spiff; badly. Airside badges predate the TSA by many years, all the way back to the 70s IIRC.
One issue however is that expired passes are not rigorously collected - you're supposed to turn them in voluntarily. Uh-huh. |

Again, this cannot be turned into a bash TSA party as you want it to be...

Agreed. It's her own fault. If she had been robbed at gunpoint, that's a different story.
