My next flight will be a one-way US LAS-SNA on April 20. I have done this route many times and never been questioned by the Federales. I will post a mini-trip report after the flight.

I've had to delete several posts in this thread that were discussing moderation actions and suspensions of FT members.

Both are against the TOS and are also off-topic for FT threads.

Wasn't me! Didn't do it!

OT, I'm curious to see what happens to our intrepid hero on his next flight. I'm betting nothing.

Odds, anyone?

You got that right. Nothing. Not a darn thing. And probably not even a thank you or letter of commendation for turning in a suspicious item and alerting the proper authorities, just like they request, all the time, everywhere, in signage and announcements.

P.S. Our esteemed OP and devoted FTer MrpAlert flies alot, so I guarantee we won't be left in suspense regarding this incident.

Its time to fly...

It took 2 tries on USAirways.com, but I was able to do OLCI for my LAS-SNA flight tomorrow and get my Group 1 non-SSSS bp. USAirways also was nice enough to send me a free lounge pass via email

Maybe this ordeal is coming to an end? May is FULL of mileage runs for me and I will report any abnormalities.

Either choice really sucks.

Option 1: Keep door closed and let friends get killed while pax and FAMs (if you're lucky) deal with the problem.

Option 2: Open the door and let the terrorist in killing all on board.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I think we all know that option 1 is the "ideal" outcome as at least people would live, even though everyone would be scarred for life.

Still a very tough and very bad call to have to make.

Are you serious? Opening the door does no good. If the FAs and passengers can't handle it, why would 2 or 3 pilots be able to?

My visit to the US Club was nice, but my favorite matrons were off that evening. I proceeded through the F/elite security line without issue. The TSA folks were pre-occupied as some unnamed Prime Minister was about to be escorted through the elite security line.

We boarded a few minutes late. I had upgraded my companion to F 7 days prior to departure, but strangely could not assign him a seat next to me. I switched seats with the passenger next to him going from 2A -> 2F to sit next to my buddy. 1/3 of the way through boarding, a middle aged man with extremely broad shoulders and an enormous bulge around his calf approached the FA and said something. She then approached me and my companion and asked if we had switched seats. We confidently replied that we had so that we could sit together. This gentleman looked angry, but never said a word to us or anyone else. Approximately every 5 minuted he glared at me. Incidently, he did not order anything to drink during the short flight down to Orange County. US Airways did just redo the seat numbering on their HP aircraft F section. Accordingly, this could have been either a frustrated passenger or an upset FAM.

Upon landing, I went to Avis and they gave me a free upgrade from an economy car to a Chevy Malibu with over 30k miles on it. San Diego was fun; the drive back to LAS was uneventful. I am ready to move past this subject. If the government wants to waste their time and money flying FAMs with me this month - then so be it. They will be wasting a lot of time as I travel LAS-MSP-ATL-SJO-ATL-MEM-LAS-PHX-SLC-EWR-CLE-SEA-ATL-SYR-ATL-PHX-LAS-LAX-BOS-IAD-PHL-SJU-PHL-PIT-SFO-LAS over these next few weekends. I also have booked an award ticket OTP-TLV-OTP on LY (El-Al) for this summer. If anything strange happens, I will post an update. I hope I do not have to post anything.

Thanks to everyone who voiced their support and safe travels to all.

Wasn't a FAM. One thing you stated made it obvious it wasn't one, so I don't know who it was, but not a FAM.

You should have glared back. Nothing like a fun little tete-a-tete to make a flight more enjoyable.

Quick Update

My last couple flights have pretty much gone off without an issue that could not be attributed to airline error. I have not been SSSSelected and have not had any noticible FAMs since my last ride. I even managed to standby on the 1am NW LAS-MSP flight from my schedule 655am flight without issue. The main snafu has been with Delta inserting a .2 at the end of my FF# on my current San Jose, Costa Rica mileage run. It has prevented the NWA computers from handling my check in properly. It even stumped the lovely matrons at the MSP World Club. As such, NW manually checked me in for each of my flights and then the Delta Crown Room Club matron manually checked me in for my exit row seat. The outbound flights have already hit my WorldPerks account which is a record posting time for me ^

Unfortunately, my miles from this hellacious adventure have yet to post. I faxed AA all my BPs and a copy of my US statement 5 weeks ago and followed up with a phone call on Friday. I got the standard non-elite pax answer of wait 8 weeks because AS is slow. I can't see why I won't get the miles, its just a funky turn that the FTer in me demanded that I share.

This topic has given me more than a few chuckles. I'm proud to say that I've never found any weapons on a flight or witnessed any truly threatening behavior. I hope that I never do.

The most excitement I've seen was a Singaporean, on a student visa to study at U of OK, who became irate and cursed at the flight attendant. He was detained when the plane reached MSP. All this was because he kept hitting the call button while trying to change the volume on his headset. She became irritated and asked him to stop pressing the button if he didn't need anything. He went off and called her several derogatory names . I think it's safe to say the kid wasn't admitted after that little episode on the plane. I was amazed that someone would throw away their "American Dream" of living and studying in the States over something so stupid. Assuming that's why he was coming in the first place.
